Story
When I opened my eyes, the world was quiet.
There was no sound of wind, no sound of cars, no sound of people talking.
Before that, I doubted my body. I had no hands. I had no feet.
Instead… it was round. The entire existence of the country was a smooth, spherical ball.
At first, a breathtaking fear came over me.
But soon—absurdly—a strange sense of liberation crept in.
A world where there is no one, no one looks at me, and no one evaluates me.
All I had to do was roll around.
“Haha… what is this? But… is it okay?”
As I rolled through the wind, I felt my heart lighten for the first time.
All the suppressed emotions, all the pressure that had been weighing me down, disappeared as if it were a lie.
For a while, I was happy just rolling around slowly, soaking up the sunlight.
But the joy didn't last long.
The world was too quiet and too vast.
The path where I didn't bump into anyone was initially free, but as time passed, the shadow of loneliness grew longer.
There was no one to talk to, no one to hold my hand, no one to hold me.
At some point, I stopped rolling.
No direction seemed to make sense.
In the endless silence, I gradually felt like giving up.
“What am I doing? Should I just… stop like this?”
That was when.
A small shadow approached from the darkness.
Neither metal, nor animal, nor plant—a round shape I had never seen before.
The creature, shining softly as if it were embracing moonlight, stared at me intently and then spoke.
“Why isn’t it rolling?”
I rolled over in surprise.
The creature slowly approached me, stopped in front of me, and spoke to me in a friendly manner, as if I were a long-time friend.
“You don’t know how to jump? Should I teach you?”
Instead of speaking, I rolled my body slightly and answered.
The creature jumps up and speaks.
“Like this! Gather your strength… bang!”
I tried jumping awkwardly at first, falling over several times.
But the creature did not give up and continued to smile and help.
So I took a small step towards the world again.
As time passed, I suddenly asked.
“What’s your name? Where are you from?”
The creature looked up at the sky for a moment and then spoke quietly.
“My name is Luna, it comes from the moon.”
The moon. That quiet place that always shines lonely when viewed from Earth.
I didn't ask why.
It just struck me that a small being, similar to me, came from such a lonely place.
Luna said with a smile.
“I have to go back. But… I can’t do it alone.”
I noticed right away.
Home is the moon for this child, and the road back there will be difficult.
And I too… remember being shunned and left alone by someone in the past.
The trauma crept back in—but this time it was different.
“I’ll… help you.”
Luna's eyes sparkled.
We set out together.
During the day, I looked at the sky, and at night, I looked at the moon, and rolled toward my destination.
But the journey was not easy.
The wounds that were once abandoned sometimes catch me and drag me down.
“I can’t do this… I’ll become someone else’s burden again…”
There were many moments when I wanted to run away.
Then Luna stopped in front of me and quietly held out her hand.
Small, round, but warm hands.
“Let’s go together.”
I looked at the hand… and it slowly rolled over and touched me.
The warmth and comfort felt at that moment.
The feelings I thought had disappeared from the world have returned.
So we started moving forward again.
Through the darkness, over the hill, towards the end.
If the two of us were together… I could roll again.
